Indemnity built around your practice.
A mutual for Australian clinicians and the clinics they run — claims-made cover up to $20 million, government-backed run-off, and medico-legal support that actually answers the phone.

Designed around Australia’s medical indemnity framework

What we cover
One mutual, two kinds of protection
Individual practitioners and the clinic entity carry different exposures. Praxia covers both — and bundles them when you run a practice.
Why Praxia
Built by clinicians who were tired of the fine print
We kept what works about the mutual model — and fixed the parts that haven’t changed since 2003.
Rated on the work, not the title
Your premium reflects your actual scope of practice, billings and sessions — so part-time and new-to-practice clinicians aren't overcharged.
Cyber & privacy built in
Where most insurers treat cyber as advisory-only, Praxia Premier and Practice include privacy-breach cover as standard for a connected clinic.
Medico-legal support from day one
A 24/7 advice line plus Praxia Law — real support the moment a complaint, claim or AHPRA notification lands.
Instalments without the traps
Monthly direct debit with transparent loadings and none of the policy-voiding fine print for a late instalment.
How we compare
A modern take on a century-old model
Everything you expect from a medical defence organisation — plus the things traditional cover still makes hard.
Tiered cover
Levels that scale from solo to whole-of-clinic
Choose a level, then our pricing engine builds your premium on your specialty, billings and state.

Trusted by clinicians across Australia
The quote took two minutes and actually explained where every dollar went. I switched the whole practice across.
Having cyber cover bundled in was the deciding factor — our clinic runs entirely on cloud systems now.
I called the advice line at 11pm before a coronial matter. Someone picked up. That's what I'm paying for.
Government support, explained
The safety net behind every Australian doctor’s premium
Commonwealth schemes dampen and stabilise premiums — and provide free run-off cover when you retire. Praxia administers them so you don’t have to.
How the schemes workPremium Support Scheme
Subsidy when indemnity costs exceed 7.5% of your billings, or for rural procedural GPs.
Run-off Cover Scheme
100% of claims covered once you permanently stop private practice — at no ongoing cost.
High Cost Claim Scheme
The Commonwealth meets 50% of eligible claims above the threshold.
Exceptional Claims Scheme
Cover for the catastrophic tail above your limit of indemnity.
Is medical indemnity insurance mandatory?+
Yes. Under the Medical Board of Australia's registration standard, every registered doctor must hold appropriate professional indemnity cover for all aspects of their practice.
What does claims-made cover mean?+
Your policy responds to claims made and notified while you're insured, for incidents back to your retroactive date. It's the market standard for medical indemnity, which is why continuous cover matters.
Can I pay monthly?+
Yes — choose annual payment or monthly direct debit at checkout. Premier members can also access premium funding for larger premiums.
